Dodge Cars is the most revered of number plates

The Dodge Cars that was first manufactured and started by two brothers Horace and John Dodge. This was christened as the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle in the year 1914. They had previously worked manufacturing bicycles and automotive parts before they forayed full fledged into the manufacturing of automobiles.

The very first car that rolled out of the assembly line at Dodge Motors was a touring car. This became a favorite and there were buyers queuing up for it. The next two to join this car were the roadster and a four door sedan. In the year 1917 the Dodge Company started manufacturing trucks.

Then the company changed hands and was bought by a bank and held for a brief period of time before it was bought over by Chrysler Corporation in the year 1960. From that time onwards there were different branches for the manufacture of trucks and cars. After the end of World War II, the new military style jeep inspired cars that came about were the Power Wagon truck, Hemi- powered Coronet and the Royal Lancer.

Throughout the 1960s, there was a Dodge in every American driveway and this is what made the Dodge Dart and Custom 880 a great seller. There were other iconic vehicles that were launched such as the Charger. This vehicle had several different new features to it such as the fast back roofline, the head lamps that are hidden and a wonderful full width tailgate. This was with a 318 cubic inch V8 engine with an option of upgrading to a 426 cubic inch with a 425 horsepower and more powerful Hemi V8 engine.

In the year 1970, there was the introduction of the Mustang fighting pony car called the Challenger.

In spite of all the introduction of the new range of cars, the company was almost bankrupt in the year 1980s and was saved from this by the government bailing it out. That was when it started manufacturing smaller cars that were more economical such as the Omni and Aries. Then from the year 1984, the Dodge cars were able to make a mark in the market and also be able to get the buyers back into its fold. The way it was able to do this was with the introduction of a popular car called the Caravan.

What buyers seemed to love about the new age Dodge cars was that they were not only spacious and could easily take along with them five passengers but they were space and fuel efficient. They were almost like mini-vans and therefore much liked. In the 1990s they had a V10 powered Viper roadster.

The whole of the 1990s was an extremely successful time for them. However, this did not last for a real long time and the Dodge Chrysler cars were sold to a private equity company in the year 2007. This is the time that Dodge cars are looking for a revival in their fortunes.
