Fiat Cars is the most impressive and the oldest amongst all the cars

Fiat Cars is a car the impresses the buyer based on several different reasons and it continues to hold sway over the buyers heart. The car was manufactured by the Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino which was nicknamed FIAT. This was way back in the year 1899. This was the first time that an Italian car had gone on to reach such great heights. The Fiat Cars were such that they became the envy of most nations. The car the Fiat Topolino was the first car to be compared with the Volkswagen.

However, the advent in the United States was not what it had expected it to be. The Fiat 1500 had a few enthusiasts routing for it. Then, in the year 1971 there was the introduction of the Fiat 850 the Spider and the Coupe. This car was really popular amongst college going students. Then came the Pininfarina designed Fiat 124. This was a sports car and made the brand image of the Fiat rise like none other. It was able to bring about a change in its fortunes as several buyers started queuing up at its doorstep.

However, the other cars that were introduced by Fiat Cars in the market went on to fail and failed really miserably. There was the Fiat 124 sports car that was received so well and then there were the all front wheel drive 128 and the mid-engine X1-9. These cars weren't received well by the buyers and never ever actually took off. Even the car Lancia that was one of the forerunners of this brand began to flounder big time.

The Fiat Cars brand image also began to take a beating what with the cars not being able to stand up for the test of reliability as well as not much new age advanced technology being used in them. Also, it was not able to meet all the most stringent of emission standards that were set up by the government in North America. All of this was like the death bell for the Fiat Cars and they finally had to withdraw from the US market in the year 1980.

In the year 2000, General Motors acquired a part of the Fiat Cars company and the new joint venture was formed. This was to manufacture more compact and smaller cars for the European markets. Then, when GM was not doing well and Chrysler Motors was forced into filing for bankruptcy, Fiat Cars was able to rise like a Phoenix. They went on to invest their money wisely in the latest technology to combat emissions and pollution control. This paid off and their new age cars were well received. The first of the Fiat 500 is to be launched in the year 2011. This is after not being in the American markets for over two decades. The pint sized compact Fiat 500 is a car that is looked forward to by the buyers.
