The Honda Cars Company is Japanese made company and was founded by Soichiro Honda in the year 1948. The first foray that the company made was not straight away into making cars but motorbikes. This was the starting of the Honda bikes becoming more than what they had originally started out to be cheap bikes with fuel efficiency to them.

These bikes gained great acclaim for themselves and more and more of them were manufactured. Then, in the year 1960 the first car was made. This was for the domestic Japanese market and it took part in Formula One. In the 1970s these cars were imported to the United States and it was not until the advent of the Civic Honda that the company was able to fare well in these parts of the world. This was because of several different reasons one of them being that the car offered a far greater dimension than the previous cars. What the buyers really liked was the fuel efficiency that the Civic offered. Then, in the year came about the Accord. This car too was a familiar figure on American roads very soon.

By the time the 1980s rolled by Honda Cars had become a great favorite amongst the American car buyer for several different reasons. The best and right on top of the list was the reliability that they brought along with it. This went on to become the best car of the Americas by the year 1989 when the Accord was declared to be so. This was the time that the Honda Cars Company started to make more cars that were far more luxurious and had the best of interiors to them. They were also made to be more upscale.

This was the time for the Honda Cars to launch a new car and that was the birth of the Acura. This did not stop Honda Cars from continuing to innovate and come up with better idea. The Civic and Acura are considered to be benchmark cars.
