This is my personal car makers shrine page.
Pontiac Cars certainly need no introduction to them as they are a part of the General Motors family. It is one of the high performance oriented vehicles in the cars that this company manufactures. There are a wide range of cars on offer such as the best of Sports cars and convertibles. Though the Pontiac Cars brand is to be stopped by the end of 2010!
The start of the Pontiac Cars was way back in the year 1907 in Michigan and at that point of time the company was called Oakland Car Company. The founder of the Pontiac Cars was Edward Murphy. The Pontiac Cars company was taken over by General Motors in 1909 and the first car was rolled out in the year 1926.
The car was powered by a strong and sturdy six cylinder engine. It was no longer known by the Oakland name but was called Pontiac. Pontiac Cars have been renowned for their aesthetics and the way they looked from the outside. They have this wonderful silver streak to them which was inspired by art-deco and the mix of chrome. This gave it the right kind of speed lines as it cruised past the streets all along the length of the hood and the base of the windshield as well.
In the year 1950, came about the Pontiac Bonneville. This was a great huge car that was extremely stylish and not only was extremely spacious and had a whole lot of room inside it but had a great many features to it as well. One of the features was that it was stylish to the core, a great performer and had all the luxury trappings in it. This was the one of the Pontiac Cars that really made it big in the market. By the time the 1960s rolled in these Pontiac Cars had made a name for them and built up a reputation of being the best around.
Then due to buyer's demands they began to offer a great amount of undersized cars compared to the huge cruisers that they had on previously. This saw the launch of the Tempest. This car had one of the most powerful of engines under its bonnet which was the V8 engine. The car was a 389 cubic inch car and had the right kind of muscular power to it.
During the end of the 1960s came about the introduction of two other Pontiac Cars to the market namely Firebird and Firebird Trans Am.
Then, in the 1970s the oil crisis demanded that the cars be made much more compact and that was the birth of two other cars which were the Ventura and Phoenix. The two seat Pontiac Fiero was launched in the years 1980. This car very soon became a reputed sports car. Two more cars came about in the year 1990 which were the Sunfire and Montana and other newer models later like the GB, Vibe and Solstice.
